I bought this product while living in California in 2008. They recommend to contact technical assistance (200 km far from my city) and I need to pay to change the mother board. I also bought all acessories for the computer (two HP docking station for home and my office, etc). Just one month after garantee finished, I can't turn on the computer.
HP company is just advertisement. Even so, they need to import the component. Don't do the same mistake than me. When I told to my colleagues about the brand, they told me that HP is famous for their eletrical problems. Now I'm using my wife's computer to post this review. I bought two notebooks, an HP for me and a Toshiba for my wife.
I invested a good almount of money in this brand and now I have no technical assistance, the price to fix the computer is almost the same to buy a new one and I'll need to wait at least 45 days to have my computer back. I do'n't trust in this brand anymore. I really invested in the brand because I believed I could trust on HP. After contact with HP, they didn't solve the problem.
this is the only solution. I've got this laptop some time ago, too much overheating problems, my motherboard died and hp replaced it twice. It was still overheating but i dissasembled it and putted a coin between the gpu and the fan.
those who did some research over the net as I did know that this is a rather general issue with this issue, though hp still refuses to admit it. I bought two of these and they both displayed the same overheating issue and after repeated sudden shut downs, both motherboards went off.
First symptoms are computer running very hot then intermitant wirless connection followed by unexplained hibernation (with all hibernation and sleep modes turned off) then your computer will shutdown and never restart. Don't join the 1000's of know owners that have already paid for the mistake you are about to make. Buyer BEWARE.
There is a known defect that HP denies on this model. Go to HP's own support forum and read the 100's of post. DO NOT buy an HP TX series computer.
DO NOT BY. No BIOS screen no boot screen nothing will work but the leds and fan. GUI chip will overheat due to lack of cooling and cause computer to fail.
Then you will pay to get it fixed as HP support will leave you hanging.
Even then though I would see how hot it gets first. Cons:The touch screen is pretty much a joke, you have to dig into it pretty hard to get it to recognize anything, which makes writing a pain. The laptop heats up pretty good, I'm actually afraid to keep it in tablet mode or not use a cooling pad with it,because it might burst into flames. Those are pretty much the only big things about the laptop, I wouldn't recommend this model though, perhaps the newest tablet from hp which features a very impressive touch screen, more responsive and like a cellphone touch screen. I've owned this laptop more than a year, I found HP chat support to be excellent, I sent my laptop in 2 times got free overnight shipping to and from, and also fixed and back to me within about 3-4 days.Pros: At the time I purchased it for about $900 it was a good deal. Nowadays, not so.
